Mylancoon Maine Coon Cattery     Kitten Agreement and Health Warranty 

 


  • The Kitten is in good health at time of sale and has been vaccinated, vet checked.
    2. That the Purchaser(s) agrees to and understand(s) the following conditions:
  •  Kitten Agreement and Health Warranty
  •  Breeder guarantees that the cat listed above is a purebred Maine Coon Cat and is eligible for registration in CFA, the Cat Fanciers Association and/or TICA, The International Cat Association.   Owner agrees to provide a lifetime loving home, routine medical care, proper nutrition, and agrees not to declaw, that the kitten/cat will be an indoor only cat and not allowed to roam freely outdoors. Kitten is being placed as a pet and not for breeding purposes and is to be spay/neutered between 6 to 8 months.  Under no circumstances will this cat ever be sold, leased, or given away to any pet shop, Humane Shelter, research facility or similar facility. If for any reason this cat cannot be kept by the owner, Breeder will assist in finding a suitable home.  
          A  the time of sale this kitten has been examined by our veterinarian, has been vaccinated by the breeder and to the best of  the breeders knowledge is in good health at the time of possession,  and that:
  •  The kitten has no known disease or illness.
  •  The kitten has no known congenital or hereditary condition that adversely affects the health of the kitten at the time of the sale. 
  • The statement shall be valid for3 days following pickup of the kitten and an examination of the kitten by the owners veterinarian.
  • FELV/FIV Warranty: Breeder guarantees the cat/kitten to be free of Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) at the time of purchase. Breeder guarantees full refund of purchase price or replacement of kitten, if kitten is tested within 3 days and veterinary proof is shown that the kitten has FelV/FIV. Kitten must be kept separate from other felines of unknown status (not tested for FELV/FIV) in the new place of residence and tested within the 3 day period for this warranty to apply. No cats in our cattery have ever tested positive or had FELV/FIV or been in contact with a cat that has the disease.
    Vaccinations:
  • Kitten has received a vaccinations for Feline Panleukopenia, Feline Calicivirus and, Feline Rhinotracheitis. Buyer agrees to vaccinate this cat/kitten on veterinary advice as appropriate. Cats at risk, ( allowed access to outdoors, in contact with outdoor cats or living with a FeLV/FIV infected cat) should be vaccinated for FELV Leukemia or on veterinary advice initially at 12 and 15 weeks, then anually. Rabies vaccination will need to be given if required by your state. (While vaccinations cannot completely prevent kittens and cats from becoming ill from these diseases, they can greatly lessen the severity of the symptoms and prevent servere illness or death).
  • Health Warranty
  •   For purposes of this warranty, a disease, illness, or congenital or hereditary condition that adversely affects the health of the kitten at the time of sale, shall be one that is apparent at the time of sale by the breeder or the  breeders veterinarian upon examination.
  • Provisions
  •   If a licensed veterinarian examines the kitten within 3 days of posession and states in writing, the kitten is ill due to illness or disease that existed in the kitten on or before delivery of the kitten to the purchaser, excluding minor upper respitory illness or, if within one year after the purchaser has taken physical possession of the kitten, a licensed veterinarian states in writing that the kitten has a serious congenital or hereditary condition which adversely affects the health of the kitten or results in death, the kitten shall be considered unfit for sale, and the breeder shall provide the purchaser with any of the following remedies that the purchaser elects:
  • Remedies
  •    (1) Return the kitten to the breeder for a refund of the purchase price within 3 days of pickup, 
  •    (2) Exchange the kitten for a kitten of the purchaser's choice of equivalent value, providing a replacement kitten is available,  
  •    A finding by a veterinarian of intestinal, bacterial  external parasites or upper respitory  shall not be grounds for declaring a kitten unfit for sale . 
  • To obtain the remedies provided for in this section the purchaser shall substantially comply with all of the following requirements:
     
    Requirements
     
       (a) Notify the breeder as soon as possible but no later than 24 hours of the diagnosis by a licensed veterinarian of a medical or health problem, including a congenital or hereditary condition and of the name and telephone number of the veterinarian providing the diagnosis.
  •    (b) Return the kitten to the breeder, in the case of serious illness or congenital or hereditary condition, along with a written statement from a licensed veterinarian, stating the kitten to be unfit for purchase due to illness, a congenital or hereditary condition,  that existed on or before delivery of the kitten to the purchaser, and that adversely affects the health of the kitten.
  • The purchaser shall return the kitten along with a copy of the veterinarian's statement as soon as possible but no later than 3 days of receipt of the veterinarian's statement.

  •    (c) Provide the breeder, in the event of death, with a written  statement from a licensed veterinarian stating that the  kitten died from an illness that existed on or before the delivery of  the kitten to the purchaser.  The presentation of the statement shall be sufficient proof to claim reimbursement or replacement and the  return of the deceased kitten to the breeder shall not be required.
  •  No refund or replacement, shall be made under  if any of the following conditions exist:
  •     (a) The illness, condition, or death resulted from maltreatment or neglect or from an injury sustained or an illness or condition contracted subsequent to the delivery of the kitten to the purchaser.
  •    (b) The purchaser fails to carry out the recommended treatment
  • prescribed by the examining veterinarian who made the initial diagnosis.
       (c) A statement was provided by the breeder to the purchaser that disclosed the disease, illness, or condition for which the purchaser seeks to return the kitten.  .
  •    (d) The purchaser does not provide the breeder veterinary proof of illness or death or any and all documents previously provided to the purchaser for the purpose of registering the kitten are not returned. 
     
    Feeding cat/kitten the same food as well as taking reasonable measures to reduce stress is recommended when first bringing kitten to new home. Buyer's food should be slowly mixed in  with Breeder's food to allow kitten time to adjust to his new diet. Kitten should be kept separate from existing animals in the home until the vet check. 
  • Purchaser's  acceptance of kitten on this date  indicates compliance with the above conditions.
